The Thomson Correctional Center is the proposed replacement site for the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Center is currently the parent institution of the Thomson Minimum Security Unit, which houses an average daily population of 144, with an average annual cost per inmate of $43,803.
